Speaking on the Status Press show, presented by journalists Dimitris Venieris and Virginia Dimaresi, Mr. Georgakos pointed out that, through the digital route, the various services of the municipality of Preveza have received about 10,000 requests over the last four (4) years and have satisfied at least 75-80% of them with a faster response rate, compared to the recent past.

He said that the volume of bureaucracy has been drastically reduced, citing, among other things, as an example that the KEP of Preveza has reached the point of processing requests from citizens from all cities in Greece.

Mr. Georgakos noted that the municipality of Preveza has made digital leaps in the areas of sustainable urban mobility and electricity management, while it has installed a system for the management of the fleet of garbage trucks with automatic weighing of the quantity of urban waste in the field.

By implementing innovative solutions and introducing good practices based on technology, DOTSOFT SA contributed to Preveza’s dynamic entry into the new digital era and to occupy a remarkable position on the map of smart cities.

The mayor of Ampelokipoi – Menemeni referred, among other things, to the capabilities of identifying extreme weather events and early warning of citizens, as well as the digital conversion and electronic archiving of the records of Urban Planning.

Solutions based on artificial intelligence technologies and big data analysis, adapted to the particular environment of Greek cities

DOTSOFT started the development of a smart city data management and utilization platform in 2015 and today more than twenty (20) Greek cities utilize it daily. Based in Thessaloniki and offices in Ioannina, Trikala and Heraklion, it employs more than 50 specialized computer engineers, analysts and data processing specialists produced by smart city applications. The SmartisCity platform (www.smartiscity.gr) has been installed to date in municipalities such as Kalamaria, Patras, Preveza, Alexandroupoli, Rhodes, Drama and in smaller municipalities such as Zitsa, Pogoni, Zagori and Filiates satisfying the very special requirements of the Greek municipalities.

The company’s vision from the first steps was the development of a solution based on artificial intelligence technologies and big data analysis (big data) that would work in the special environment of Greek municipalities knowing the difficulties that existed and exist to date. The course of the company to date shows that the response and interest of the municipalities is great.

The discussion on the installation of smart city systems and applications has intensified significantly recently after the announcements of the Minister of Digital Government Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis at the KEDE conference in October last year, announcing the amount of 320 million Euros for the 332 OTA of the country. One part concerns the “Smart Cities” program from the Recovery Fund with 90 million euros for 17 large municipalities together with the municipality of Trikala, while the second, concerns the other municipalities with 230 million euros.

The big challenge of the smart city

DOTSOFT SA today having over 20 productive projects with the smart city platform SmartisCity quickly realized that the big bet of these projects is not just the installation of such a smart city solution, but the daily operation of the systems and the utilization of the data produced and help make decisions by making modern municipalities more efficient. Investing in smart city solutions when the applications are not in daily use ends up not being immediately understood the value of the investment by the local government organizations.

The system consists of a mechanical vision camera, which detects pedestrians crossing the passage and automatically activates warning equipment, in order to draw the attention of drivers who move their vehicles towards the crossing.

More specifically, the system control unit automatically commands to increase the brightness of the LED sign of the passage, while at the same time activating yellow warning lights on the masts. In the meantime, it activates flashing LED elements on the road, which are visible from a long distance from the drivers.

In addition to increasing pedestrian road safety, the system also functions as a smart hub for real-time traffic and environmental data collection, using microwave sensors (radar), as well as sensors for measuring temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, microparticles, etc.

It should be noted that the system is fully compliant with personal data legislation, as the mechanical vision camera does not detect or record persons or other characteristics of by-passers.

The project concerns the supply and installation of three floor charging stations for new construction electronic cars and includes the equipment (charging stations), the transfer of equipment to the relevant Municipalities, its assembly, the cost of supply of all necessary materials & micromaterials, the installation of equipment at the points indicated by the Municipalities, the connection of the charging stations, their regulation, control and delivery in full operation, the training of the staff and the technical support of the system.

The installation of the charging stations will take place in easily accessible places that will be indicated by the Municipalities of Alexandroupolis, Soufli and Samothrace.

This supply is financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund ERDF) at a rate of 85% and from national resources through the Public Investment Program at a rate of 15%.

• The implementation of a central platform “smart city” through which the Municipality will manage applications and data
• The installation of sensors for measuring and remote management of power consumption in public buildings.
• The installation of a management and monitoring system of the Municipality’s fleet.
• The installation of smart water meters for the possibility of automatic measurement of drinking water consumption.
• The supply of equipment and management software for wireless network (WiFi) with data processing capability.

With the completion of the project, the Municipality will be able to make full use of information and communication technologies to control and improve the quality of services provided to its citizens, reducing operating costs in the fields of electricity, water and waste and the construction site management mechanism within the boundaries of the Municipality.

The project includes actions related to the implementation of a:

• Smart City Platform for interconnecting applications in a single business environment
• Central software for electronic protocol, archiving and document handling
• Internet platform for monitoring electricity consumption related to street lighting, waste and energy costs of pumping stations and public buildings
• Bucket fullness control application
• Interactive geospatial data portal that will concern both the services of the Municipality (engineers) and the citizens
• Software for the management of the water meter register of the Municipality
• Wireless network (WiFi) and application of interactive communication and direct information of citizens

With the project, the Municipality of Preveza aims at the creation and installation of a personalized Smart City Software Platform in cloud computing, for the download, collection, processing and computational analysis of pilot application data and other available open source data in order to inform the citizen and the public. for decision making.

The implementation of pilot actions and smart city applications includes:

• Urban Mobility Management and Monitoring Center and the key indicators of SVAK, with data collection in the field, automatic processing and analysis for decision making
• Waste collection fleet management system with automatic weighing of collection quantities in the field
• Remote recording and energy management system in the municipal lighting network

The Center for Management and Monitoring of Urban Mobility of the Municipality of Preveza contributes to the promotion of sustainable mobility in the city by placing in the center of planning and management of transport the mobile, both permanent resident and visitor, while also serving its broader objectives implementation of SVAK. The specialized software has three subsystems: 1) Subsystem for data collection and processing of sustainable mobility and monitoring of SBAK indicators, 2) Subsystem for real-time traffic data collection and 3) Subsystem for information and interaction with citizens within the SVAK.

Energy management software incorporates a holistic approach to managing the energy data and additional information that will be collected.
