Polygyros's Smart City Platform
The Municipality of Polygyros is taking an important step towards digital transformation, utilizing modern technologies to improve the quality of life of citizens and enhance environmental sustainability. The project involves the development and installation of integrated smart systems that enable energy monitoring of municipal infrastructure and natural resource management, contributing to a greener and more efficient municipality.
Energy Management System
The Energy Management System is the central axis of the project and allows for the continuous monitoring, control, and optimization of energy consumption in municipal and school buildings. Smart meters and sensors collect real-time data on electricity consumption, temperature, lighting, and other critical parameters. The system features comprehensive monitoring software that provides graphs, indicators, and alerts, facilitating decision-making for energy savings. In addition, it supports automation scenarios and remote equipment control, enhancing the operational efficiency of municipal buildings.
Water Quality Monitoring System
The Water Quality Monitoring System aims to continuously and reliably record critical environmental parameters in the municipality’s water supply network. Using state-of-the-art sensors, values such as pH, conductivity, temperature, and dissolved oxygen are recorded in real time, with automatic data transmission to the central platform. The system allows for the immediate detection of deviations from the permitted values and the sending of alerts to those responsible. This enhances the preventive management of water resources and the protection of public health, while providing reliable information for informed decision-making by the municipality.
With this project, the Municipality of Polygyros is adopting a comprehensive “Smart City” strategy that combines innovation, sustainable development, and active citizen participation. New energy and environmental management systems are creating conditions for a “smarter” city that is more environmentally friendly and more effective in serving its residents.
