The Municipality of Nea Propontida is embarking on an ambitious digital transformation project, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens, enhancing accessibility, and strengthening municipal services through modern technologies.

The project includes the implementation of the following key actions:

• Smart Controlled Parking System for the rational management of available parking spaces in the urban fabric.
• Smart Pedestrian Crossings and Disabled-Friendly Crossings, with the aim of improving road safety and enhancing accessibility.
• Digital Vulnerable Groups Management Platform, which allows for more effective monitoring and support of citizens in need.
• Integrated Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Teleworking System, to protect the municipality’s IT infrastructure and ensure the smooth operation of its services.

The implementation is based on the principles of smart cities and utilizes cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), geospatial data, and digital dashboards.

The project is funded by the Public Investment Program through the Operational Program “Digital Transformation of Local Authorities,” with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

With this project, the Municipality of Nea Propontida is taking a significant step towards its digital modernisation and development into a modern, functional and sustainable “smart city”.
