Controlled Parking Management and Information System

The city of Agrinio operates as a shopping center and serves the needs of residents of the wider area of ​​the Municipality and beyond. It is characterized by narrow streets and limited public spaces. It shows problems of urban pollution and is observed, on a daily basis, in the city and especially in the center, a large concentration of visitors and consequently a corresponding number of passenger cars.

The large number of incoming passenger cars leads to high parking needs. The difference that is observed between the demand for parking spaces and the corresponding supply, creates the need for interventions in order to provide the possibility of parking in the available space, in as many vehicles as possible.

It is also observed that during the finding of a parking space by the visitors, many kilometers are traveled since there is no guidance system in the free spaces. Thus, the environmental burden is great as well as the inconvenience with a corresponding cost to the visitors.

The new Controlled Parking Management and Information System, which includes 850 parking sensors, enables the limited parking spaces to be properly distributed according to the real needs, so that each space can serve more than one vehicle during the working day.

Municipal vehicle fleet management system

The Municipality of Agrinio installed in its entire fleet of vehicles (120 vehicles) a Telematics Management and Vehicle Supervision System. Through the system, the Municipality created the appropriate conditions for the rational management of the vehicle fleet and their optimal use. The aim of the application is the complete and better monitoring of the works related to the movement of vehicles, bringing a direct impact on the daily life of the citizens. With the installation of a special device in the vehicles of the Municipality, the supervision, the management, and the evaluation of the fleet will be achieved, and their mode of operation can be redefined, according to the needs that will arise as the devices will send data via GPS satellite tracking, to real time.

In addition, through the immediate information for emergency events in the vehicle, the safety of the employees of the Municipality is ensured to the maximum, as in case of e.g., Collision, overturning of vehicles is immediately notified to the Control Center for possible danger to the driver.

Finally, the system helps significantly, during the Phase of dealing with an emergency / event, in the coordination of human resources (Staff and Volunteers) and the means of intervention. In addition, it improves and accelerates the actions during the Recovery and Relief Phase.
