Project description
The Municipality of Kalamaria implements a complete innovative project of digital applications and smart city services to upgrade and improve the quality of life of its citizens. Today, a smart city can constantly and in real time feel its own rhythm and pulse. Built-in sensors, analyze and monitor the data of the city through networks.
The project is based on a single software and citizen information platform, which collects data and controls individual smart city applications. The whole project includes the following sections:
- Development and implementation of a “Smart Parking System”, which achieves the finding, display and control of limited parking spaces in the city center. The implementation was done by installing a network of specialized sensors inside the road so that one sensor corresponds to each distinct, lined parking space. The sensor feeds the gateways of the network by sending the corresponding signals when the location is or is not occupied.
- Development and implementation of “Environmental monitoring system”. The use of special environmental measuring devices, such as for the collection of gaseous pollutants, airborne particles, and noise, makes it possible to assess the quality of the atmosphere and assess the potential impact on public health. Also displayed in real time are standard environmental quality indicators that allow benchmarking, alerts and the identification of trends that could lead to action.
- Development and implementation of an application for the “Wireless Access to Municipal Services and the Internet”. The network has enhanced the existing infrastructure in the city, as it is necessary for the operation of the other applications. The system includes Collection and analysis of data generated by the user interface in the Municipal Wireless Network. The collection is done through an application that allows easy and fast connection of users to the municipal wireless network.
- Development and implementation of “System for monitoring and measuring the fullness of the bins”. With the use of equipment for measuring the fullness of the bins, the Municipality can monitor the fullness of each bin and to intervene in cases where required. At the same time there is a possibility of writing reports (reports) for the use of the bins and the filling percentages.
- Development and implementation of a “Unified software and citizen information platform”, which collects data, normalizes it, controls the individual smart city applications, and creates “open” time series of data for further study and exploitation by stakeholders.
- Systems interconnection services, pilot operation and user training. All interconnection services are included with the existing web portal of the Municipality of Kalamaria, pilot operation and training for all the other Departments.
