The Municipality of Volos, with the installation of the intelligent controlled parking system wishes to achieve the following:

Securing the parking of residents by providing free parking privileges in specific road sections.
Discourage long-term parking and the use of private cars.
Allowing parking for visitors in areas with commercial activity or service provision
Flexibility of scalability of the system.
Improved traffic conditions. The system will be organised in such a way that it will primarily improve the parking and traffic conditions currently prevailing on the main road sections of the municipality by substantially reducing illegal parking which is largely responsible for these conditions.
Reducing the use of private cars. The controlled parking system makes parking neater and easier, but does not encourage and, if possible, discourages the use of private cars for commuting in the city centre.
Reducing air pollution. It will aim to reduce pollution and improve the environmental conditions of the central application area.
The main concern is to improve the quality of life and create measurable benefits for the citizens and businesses of the City without administrative burden on City staff. Through a centralised management system, it will be possible to provide overall supervision and management of the approximately 2,400 parking spaces and other special categories, municipal police officers, confirmed tickets/violations, recording and management of complaints/calls for on-site inspections and the display of processed statistics and reports.

In addition, an application for smart mobile devices will serve citizens and visitors in parking and processing the payment of the relevant fees set by the Municipality of Volos.
